edit: actually there's ISO at https://www.memtest86.com/downloads/memtest86-iso.zip - why it's not exposted on the main page with label "unsupported"?

Because it isn't supported.
MemTest86 is now a UEFI BIOS only solution, and all UEFI machines can boot from USB.
