  • MemTest Bootable USB - V8 doesn't boot, but V5 does

    Hi,
I just downloaded the latest version v8.2 and created a Bootable USB drive but the drive doesn't boot. I just get a black screen with a cursor top left. I know there's nothing wrong with the drive because I had v5.01 on it before and it worked fine. I'm curious how it 'should' work since no boot files install on the root of the drive (they're in /EFI/BOOT) unless instruction comes from the EFI partition. Need some help please I've got a memory problem that's driving me mad.

How old is the machine? Does the machine have UEFI BIOS?
V5 of the software included a UEFI version of the software and and an older version for traditional BIOSs (V4 was the last version to support old BIOS).
But V8 drops support for traditional BIOS and only supports UEFI BIOS.

Question answered. Traditional BIOS on a 9 year old board. I went back to v5.01 and ran two passes. It's not my RAM. At this point I'm guessing MOBO. ta.
