  • I am testing DDR3 ram on my test PC, Will a Faster CPU make the test run any faster?

New to Memtest86 v8.3, appears to be running great from my USB stick very happy !

But In my test bench Intel z97 motherboard, I run a Intel Celeron G1840, so I was wondering, If I use a faster 4 core CPU on my test bench motherboard when testing DDR3, will the test run any quicker, or will it still operate at the same pace ?

The time required for a complete pass of MemTest86 will vary greatly depending on CPU speed, memory speed and memory size. Therefore a faster CPU will decrease the test time.

Generally a single pass is sufficient to catch all but the most obscure errors. However, for complete confidence when intermittent errors are suspected testing for a longer period is advised.
