  • Memtest86 Results interpretation

    Hello,

I cannot enter Windows 10 after a BSOD "page fault in nonpaged area" popped up. I also get the message when I try to load up the Windows Setup USB Iso.
Unplugged all peripherals. Did a Memtest86 and it gave me only errors with a Test 6 on CPU 1. I also swapped the ram to different slots, also did the test with single ram slots. It all came back to the same result.

I was hoping any expert can shine some light on this.

    Looks like bad RAM.

Both RAM modules? Should be a coincidence then.

Was it really exactly the same error with both RAM sticks?
        I've got some doubts.

No, sometimes I got more then over 1000 errors but the one constant is always on the same cpu. This report only shows 8 errors, the numbers of errors are random no matter in what order the ram slots are filled.

You can force the CPU core from the configuration screen. This will allow you to check if the problem is just on one CPU core.

Yes if I choose parallel cpu or the specific cpu core, it gives me errors only on that core. So you think the cpu is broken?

If you see the same error on various different cores, then I think it is more likely a RAM failure.

Hello, just to give you all a small update. I've returned the computer to the store and they have tested both RAM sticks on a troubleshoot-build. They were also running Memtest86 and the tests came out 100% positive. So it's probably the CPU or mainboard. I'll update this post with the outcome of the store in 2-4 weeks.
