  • Need some help with confirming my error

    Hey everyone, I have recently been getting multiple bsod, on the daily. I ran the test and it failed. Specifically on test 4, with an insane amount of errors, I dont know what to make of it, so I tried to follow the troubleshooting page for memtest, hence I updated my Bios for now, I just really want to know if its a RAM problem, or if it could be something else. Im getting many crashes in rendering 3D visuals, as well as plenty of crashes in games, and most of my bsod mention kernel, irql not equal or less, and other similar. These are my results: Summary

    This is more indicative of a firmware bug.
    The addresses at fault are very low in memory and and very precise range. Plus all 32bit are in error.
    Not at all random, like a typical RAM fault would be.

    Might be that some hardware device is using the 3MB to 4MB memory range, but the BIOS didn't notice and flagged the addresses as free RAM. Resulting in memory corruption.

      What would you suggest as a solution? The bios update did not work, if anything it put me on a bluescreen loop where I could not even get to my desktop without a blue screen. I took out two of the rams I had bought as an upgrade two months ago, and the problem is solved for now, for the first time I was able to play 2-3hours without a single crash. Does that mean that one or both of the ones I took out are faulty in some way? Sorry but as a real begginer in pc tech knowledge I did not fully understand your reply as to what exactly is the problem!

        If there is no problem with 16GB of RAM, try swapping the pairs around, just to prove all the RAM is good.
        It might be a firmware bug that only occurs with 32GB.

          I think one of them is faulty, since I took my second pair of 16gb out, I put one of them in, which had 24gb total, and caused a bsod loop again, turned pc off took it out, put the other one of the new pair in and everything works. So this ends up happening only with one out of the two new sticks! Im guessing that just means that one of them is faulty right?

            The would be logical. The initial error really didn't look like a RAM failure, but it can't be ruled out either.
            With 3 sticks the memory access pattern will change as you will no longer in dual channel mode.

            But there is a strong principle in diagnostics. If it works don't fix it.
