  • Memtest question.

I am building a new pc. Planing on overclocking and so I ran memtest v5.0 before I tear everything down for water cooling. I ran the test since last night and got about 14.5 passes. I tried running different cpu configurations and the first three test worked fine. When I tried running sequential test, memtest immediately started reporting errors. The test I ran overnight was parallel and this test reported two errors after 14.5 passes. I have an Asus rampage iv black edition with latest bios from asus 0602. Intel core i7 4930k and Kingston ram kit Beast - 32GB Kit* (4x8GB) - DDR3 2400MHz CL11 Intel XMP Part Number: KHX24C11T3K4/32X I would like someones opinion on the integrity of my memory. I also tried to save the finishing test log onto my usb after test was done, but its not there. Thanks.

I found my test log save. How would i post it here its an .html file.

Do the sequential mode errors occur every time, or occasionally. It would be good to see the log file (under EFI\BOOT) if you can get the errors to appear again.

I only ran the test once last night, test started to error pretty much instantaneously. I will run sequential test tomorrow for a few passes and post up the errors I get. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the reports. We'll have a look further into the Sequential mode errors.

              Can you do the following:

              1) Download this build and install on a USB drive:
              http://www.passmark.com/ftp/memtest8....0.1b.1013.zip
              2) Boot MemTest86
              3) Go to 'Test Selection' and select test 3
              4) Go to 'CPU Selection' and select 'Sequential'
              5) Start Test
              6) Send a copy of the MemTest86.log file under EFI\BOOT\ to our e-mail address in our contact page

              Thanks in advance.

I tried running this image that you provided, it will not run under uefi bios option. Every time it tries to lunch this test a warning comes up telling me its an unauthorized version missing a signature. It will only lunch in regular bios.

As this is a non-signed build (signing takes > 1 week), you may need to disable "Secure Boot" in the BIOS setup. Secure Boot is a feature that prevents binaries that aren't signed by Microsoft from executing.
