  • Result: FAIL - Wow, I think I have an issue here...

    Hello,

Can you help me understand what is wrong with my laptop?

It's random crashing and rebooting even when nothing is going on.

I've took out the 8GB that came with it when I bought it 6 months ago, and installed a different set of 8GBx2.

From reading this forum, it seems like my next testing steps would be to test 1 RAM at a time in each slot.

    Any help would be great.

I've pasted the MemTest86-Report below. (Is sending pics I took of the screen during the test of any use?)

    Thank you,
    jasonn

Yes, there is something wrong with the machine.

Yes, try 1 stick at a time. Sometimes just re-seating the RAM in the slot can fix it. You might want to try the original stick as well, if you still have it.

Great advice. I tried every combo with my 2 sticks and 2 slots. Plus used the OG chip in each slot too. I'm super happy to report it's not a defective slot on my laptop. One of my 2 sticks is defective. So my defective kit is now packed up and ready to send back for an RMA. Thank you, David! Your software is making lives better!

Just to report, I got my RMA back (took a week), re-installed the memory, ran MemTest86, and instead of a quarter of a million errors, I now have zero errors! It's good to be back. Thanks again Passmark!

It is always nice to hear the end of the stories. Especially the happy endings.
