Memory test starts then screen goes blank.

I've recently been having trouble with computer instability and thought I should test the RAM. I was able to make the boot drive just fine and started the test, but the moment the test began the screen went completely blank. The screen is still on and seems to be getting a signal, but there is nothing displayed. I occasionally see the usb drive blink; so, I've been working under the assumption that the test is running and I just can't see it. It's been about an hour, but it's still blank. Any ideas?
I'm running an MSI Z97M Gaming mobo with 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM.
