  • Can't boot from USB

I've used imageUSB.exe and made a bootable USB Flash Drive. However, I can't boot from it. I've tried booting from USB-HDD, USB-FDD and USB-Zip, but to no avail. I've set USB-HDD in BIOS as the first boot device and tried using different USB slots, but it didn't work. Help?

USB-HDD is for when you have an external hard drive connected via a USB cable. So this is not the option you want in general.

USB-FDD = Floppy disk drive. So that won't work.
USB-ZIP = The old Zip drives that you can't even buy anymore. So that won't work either.

For most UEFI BIOSs you need to have the flash drive already connected to the machine before you try go into BIOS and select the boot order. When the flash drive is connected it will have a name like,
    UEFI: <Flash drive model>

I know that, but I was confused because the flash drive model wasn't appearing in Boot Manager. I was supposed to choose HDD first and then choose the flash drive from a new list.

      Thanks anyway.

Make sure to plug the stick in before turning on your laptop.

Also try to avoid USB 3.0 ports and stick with 2.0.
Ports with 3.0 are usually blue and/or have a "SS" label.
