Newbie non-techie needs help interpreting results of MemTest86.v4.37

Hi,
I'm a non-techie newbie who needs brief, simple advice on what the results of my scan mean. I attach a screenshot of the situation so far. To me it looks bad and suggests that I may have a motherboard problem. Running 3Gb of RAM under WinXP SP3. Collapsed after I installed Google Chromecast. If anyone can give me an idiots guide to what the results mean, it would be greatly appreciated.

To start with assume the RAM is bad.
If you have two RAM sticks repeat the test with one stick at a time and see what the result it.
