  • MemTest86 black screen when starting tests

So I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7590 2in1. When I boot Memtest86, everything is fine and I can use all the other features just fine, but if I try and run the main memory test, it just black screens on me and the cooling fan ramps up. How do I go about fixing this? I've been having some issues with this laptop and am trying to figure out what's wrong with it, so I'd really like to be able to properly test the RAM.

Could be a hardware failure. Or could be a UEFI BIOS display bug when switching display modes.

Leave it running with a black screen for 15min. Then check to see if it was really running in the background by looking at the debug log file.
