  • Optimized/removed stale 32-bit code in memory tests

    Hi,

Could you explain in Version 9.0 "Optimized/removed stale 32-bit code in memory tests".

How is this better than previous version ?

Also in V9.1 Hammer test is taking considerably less time?

    Thanks

You can find a list of changes here.
    https://www.memtest86.com/whats-new.html

Memtest86 was mostly re-written in V5 for UEFI BIOS and 64bit hardware. But some the test code carried over. Some of it was probably there for 25+ years.
Being a 64bit executable now, we could optimize the code a bit more. In this case there was a minor speed improvement by rewriting a bit more of the old code.

The hammer test should take about the same time in V8 and V9 (when the same settings are used on the same hardware).
