  • 6.0 UEFI Boot - Change CPU amount issue

    Dear all,

on a HP DL580 Gen 8 with 8 CPUs and 120 Cores we try to change the CPU mode from one CPU to 32 in parallel.
The memtest freezes and the server resets after a couple of minutes (nearly) every try.

Following Infos are provided from the iLO

    Processors: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7-4880 v2 @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 8 x 16 GB per memory Board. All eight Memoryboards have the same amount of RAM.

Booting in the legacy BIOS and try the 4.3.7 version is possible. But i cannot change the amount of testing processors in parallel.
If the test runs for a while sometime the amount of used CPUs changed (over the night) to 32 sometimes not.

In the UEFI Boot only one processor is utilized, even after 72 hours of testing.

With the redirection of the iLO i connected the memtest usb image to the server and extracted the MemTest86.log. The server is now in UEFI boot mode.

I can send you the log via e-mail.

    Thanks for your valuable support.

    Have a great day.

We have never tested the software on a machine with 120 cores.

So yes, please send us the log file. Contact details are here

        Hi all,

a short update: I received a second file from Keith. This one is much better.
I am still testing with the new image.
But until now it runs for 5:25 hours and completed 78% of Test7.
Using all CPUs provides an enormous speed.

Well done so far and many, many thanks.
