  • Passing on Memtest, but available RAM showing 4GB not 16GB

    Hi,

Im not very computer literate, but Ive got Memtest up and running.

I have 6 sticks of RAM, and have left them all in to begin with to see if any errors were detected, before going for the 1 by 1 approach.

But after 10 passes, I see no errors. Ive been gradually `losing RAM' available (as I can see via ccleaner or speccy). Should be 16GB. Computer was not used for 3 months and was down at 10GB (I have differnet sized RAM in the correct paired slots) last week, 4GB today.

Sometimes wont even boot. The occasional overclocking error comes up (but its not too stresssful 2.67 > 3.2), but this is not that uncommon when all is fine.

Is there anything obvious I am missing?

    Thanks for any advice

Try re-seating the RAM to start with.
Then turn off the overclocking and see if the issue resolves itself.
