DDR5 ECC Memory - memtest shows as disabled / Linux dmidecode shows ECC as enabled

  • DDR5 ECC Memory - memtest shows as disabled / Linux dmidecode shows ECC as enabled

    Hi

    I was trying to use memtest to confirm that EEC is enabled on my new build. As the Topic title explainsm dmidecode shows ECC is enabled in the OS, but memtest shows it as disabled - why would that be, and which should be trusted?

    My spec is

    Intel i5-13500
    Asus W680 Pro IPMI
    Kingston 32GB DDR5 ECC


    Would greatly appreciate any assistance on this

    What version of Memtest86 are you using?

    And if you are using V10.3 or later can you provide a log file.

        Thanks for the logs. This chipset wasn't supported in the latest public release so ECC support cannot be determined (should be displayed as "N/A" in the main menu).

        We attempted to add support for this chipset. Can you give this build a try:

          Just tried with this version and it now shows ECC to be enabled!

            Also running into this issue with version 10.4. Do you know if those changes should be included now in 10.4 or not yet?

            My system is:
            Intel i5-13500

            When viewing the SPD info for each stick I see ECC: Yes, but on the main screen it still says N/A for ECC.

              We'll need to look at the logs to confirm. Can you send a copy of the MemTest86 log under EFI\BOOT of the USB flash drive.

                  Yes, the ECC capabilities for this chipset should properly displayed in our next public release V10.5 (should be in a couple weeks or so)

                    I have the same RAM and motherboard. I'm using v10.6 and still see my ram as being reported as non-ECC, similar to what TheDragon reported.
