  • Memtest86 crashes. I don't know if it isn't compatible with my pc or ram is bad

Twice when playing with a wired controller, my game froze and the sound slowed down before going back to normal. It didn't occur to me to open Task Manager to see what process was causing the issue, but I'm sure it wasn't my antivirus because I temporarily turned it off.

I ran memtest86 for an hour. When I came back, it was stuck on hammer test 13. The clock wasn't even moving. I ran the test 2 more times and the same thing happened.

I don't know if this software isn't compatible with my pc or if my ram is bad. I made sure that I had the latest version of the Lenovo BIOS and that the drivers of my controller were up to date in Device Manager. This issue hasn't happened to me when using mouse and keyboard.

Here are my specs and the log of the program:
    -Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH7
    -3.2 ghz AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with 8 cores and 16 threads
    -Ram: 16 GB DDR5-4800
    -Two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, dual-channel capable

    Thanks for the logs.

According to the logs, it didn't appear that the system crash/hung at Test 13 as the tests continued to run. So likely it is an issue with the screen not updating.

    2024-01-28 17:51:15 - Running test #13 (Test 13 [Hammer test])
    ...
    ...
    2024-01-28 17:54:35 - MtSupportRunAllTests - Test execution time: 199.553s (Test 13 cumulative error count: 0, buffer full count: 0)
    2024-01-28 17:54:35 - Finished pass #1 (of 4) (Cumulative error count: 0, buffer full count: 0)
    2024-01-28 17:54:35 - Starting pass #2 (of 4)
    2024-01-28 17:54:35 - Running test #0 (Test 0 [Address test, walking ones, 1 CPU])
    ...
Does the screen freeze on Test 13 every time? or is it based on elapsed time? (eg. If you disable Test 13, does the screen still freeze?)
When the screen freezes, does the keyboard shortcuts still work?

An issue with the screen display is likely due to a bug in the UEFI BIOS, as MemTest86 does not do the actual screen rendering.
