  • Does anybody run MemTest86 on Intel Granite Rapids SP Dual CPU system?

I have run the memtest86 on out DP GNR-SP board with 8 x 64GB DIMMs. 4 DIMMs on CPU0 and other 4 DIMMs on CPU0 side.
Memory Bandwidth display on the memtest86 test screen shows something wrong.... Does anybody has an experience ....?

    shows something wrong
We aren't aware of "something wrong".

You might need to provide more details about that something.

      Please see the follows:

      - 64GB DIMM on CPU0 : Memory BW = 12.1 GB/s

      - 64GB DIMM on CPU0 and another 64GB DIMM on CPU1 : Memory BW = 4747 MB/s <<<==== which is "something wrong"

As the CPU has no model number, I assume it is an engineering sample?

You are using V10.7 of the MemTest86 software, but V11 is now available. I don't think it will change the benchmark result however.

The free version of the software is limited to 16 cores, out of your 192 cores.

Performance difference might be a particularly bad example of a NUMA effect.

Can you boot Windows on this machine and use the Advanced Memory Test to compare with these results. The advanced tests in PeformanceTest allow the NUMA node selection.

          Thanks for your responses:

I have already tested with version 11.0, result are same as version 10.7 as you thought.

          Question:
Does you mean that Pro version will change the test result?
or is there any way to get correct result with MEMtest86 tests for dual cpu systems ?

Not for the benchmark speed test.

But for the RAM error checking tests, more cores can be used.

We have no reason to think these results are incorrect.
Yes, they are low benchmarks, but there could be a good reason for this, NUMA memory separated from the CPU on a high latency link. It is one of the BIG downsides in running dual socket systems. Most software doesn't know how to deal with NUMA. Which means dual sockets only makes sense for very limited use cases.
