Freeze when exiting memtest?

Hello!


After a full 4 passes and getting no errors and getting to the screen where you can choose to shutdown / restart / exit memtest

I chose to exit and when it got back to bios it froze entirely for a good 3 minutes where I couldn't move my mouse or anything and then was fine and had no issues afterwards trying to replicate this by loading back in and exiting to bios again did not work


Was curious if this could be a actual issue or a potential bug? As I couldn't find much information on a similar experience just freezing during the actual tests itself

What were the hardware specs? The motherboard and BIOS version in particular.

Haven't touched it since, just seemed strange I would get a complete lock up when just exiting the test but not during it

Wonder if it somehow triggered the memory training process to happen again.
Some people with DDR5 systems have reported extremely slow memory training times with DDR5, up to 15min.

We've had no reports of this however, and this is just a guess. We don't really know.

I'm reporting a similar issue.

MOBO: Asus Tuf Gaming B850 Plus WiFi
BIOS version: 1087
CPU: 7800x3D
RAM: 2x32 Gskill F5-6000J3238G32GX2-TZ5NR

During the test, there were no problems; all four steps passed successfully.
However, when I chose the exit option, I went back to the BIOS without mouse and keyboard support. I only had to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the PC, and everything worked as usual.

so i'm wondering if my system has some sort of problem or if it's the same thing described in the old post and never fixed by asus

Maybe, it seems like we did reproduce something similar on ASUS boards a couple of years ago.

Today I ran a couple more tests:

1) I ran memtest86 and exited without running any tests: I had about 1 second of lag in the BIOS, but then everything was fine.

2) I ran memtest86 on my old system:
CPU: i7 5930k
MOBO: Asus x99M WS
RAM: 4x8GB Corsair CMK32GX4M4A2133C13

A totally different system from the current one(intel Platform, quad channel memory, ddr4) which has been running flawlessly for over 10 years.
Result: after 2 passes, once I pressed exit, the BIOS froze for at least 40 seconds before I regained control of the mouse pointer.(no reset with ctrl+alt+del this time, panic mode was off XD)

Now, the things the two systems have in common:

Keyboard.
Mouse.
USB stick with the same memtest installation.(plugged in the usb 3.1 port in all my tests)
Motherboard brand.

It's a curiosity, as it isn't clear at all what's going on for those 40 secs after our software exits, but there isn't much we can do to fix this.
