    Question about Memory frequency speed quesstion and hang up about 24 hours LPDDR5

    Hi.

    We are using memtest86 v11.6 on Intel Alderlake N (N150) SOC with LPDDR5 8G board, but we found two question about it.
    1. At least 4 pcs MB hang up about in 24 hours. We setting test cycle =999 and run all test item.
    2.Same SOC same BIOS setting the memory frequency will be different, some board may 2x speed then others.

    Did you had any recomment about above question?

    Modern machines vary their clock speeds (both RAM and CPU) to save electrical power. This can happen several times a second. So having a variable clock speed isn't an error.

    For the lock ups. Maybe the hardware is bad? What was the failure rate?
    4 bad board from 4 tested?
    Or 4 bad from 10,000 tested?

      Thanks your reply.

      About memory frequency I did observe the faster MB will run more cycle at same time, I can't relate it with variable clock. I run memtest86 on EFI shell should not OS power manager mode to effect it.

      I saw your product with pro and site version what different with those version? Can I use PXE boot form pro image? Those two image was same?

        CPU & RAM frequency control don't need Windows or Linux to work. They are built into the CPU & BIOS.

        Things that effect the test completion time are.
        - How much RAM is in the machine
        - Speed of the RAM
        - Speed of the CPU & caches
        - How many CPU cores are active and if the motherboard supports threading.
        - What tests are enabled
        - Speed of the USB drive used for booting / logging / reporting
        - If is it pass #1. (Pass 1 is faster than 2,3,4.....)
        - If lots of errors are encountered. These need to be logged and in some tests like row hammer can result in additional testing.
        - If there are any power controls in BIOS limiting CPU / RAM (e.g. running on battery power). Same for thermal throttling.

          Attached hang up(lock ups) log, could you provide any information about it?

            From the log it looks like the machine just stopped. There were no errors before the stop.

            You didn't answer the question about failure rate.

            If you have 4 machines like this. Compare the 4 logs. See if they stop after the same amount of time, or at the same log line.
