    MemTest86 not working

    Hello,

i think something is wrong with my RAM and wanted to use this program. I did everything according to the video and have the right and newest version. But when i reboot my pc to go into BIOS (with the USB already plugged in) it doesn’t work. I get a Asus code 64 error and after awhile it will just boot into Windows. If i first go into BIOS and then plug in the USB with the program it goes back to code 64 and makes the BIOS freeze. What am i doing wrong?

I have a core i9 9900k and a Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero (WI-FI) motherboard.

    Kind regards

Most BIOS will not notice a new USB drive being plugged in after BIOS has started to run. You need to plug in the drive before the machine is turned on.

Also try a different USB drive (pick a quality USB3.0 brand name drive if possible).

Test the USB drive in another machine (in case the hardware in the machine under test is unstable enough not to even boot the drive).

I did plug it in before, As said it just doesn’t even want to boot into BIOS then with the stick plugged in. The USB stick should be fine, I used this one aswell to install Windows before and it worked perfectly.

Try a different USB drive and then a different USB port.

Just tested a different USB stick and it indeed is working now. Kinda funny because the one i used before was a much more expensive one and this one is just a cheap USB stick i once got from somewhere hehe. But it works. Thanks you!
