Which version of OSF are you using?
If the indexing session finishes prematurely, then there is a prompt asking if you want to keep the index or not. Might you have clicked the wrong button?

The index files are stored in the case folder. Can you have a look in that folder to see if you can find the files.

The case folder could be anywhere you decided, but by default is it here,
    C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\PassMark\OSForensics\Cases\<CaseName>\Index\

In this folder there should be a file called,
    <IndexName>.OSFMeta
    and a folder called.
    <IndexName>

In the <IndexName> folder there should be the actual index. It is made up of files with these names,

    zoom.zcfg
    settings.zdat
    indexlog.txt
    zoom_dictionary.zdat
    etc..

Thank you for the quick reply...

      I'm using the current beta.

The index-process finishes without problems. and the files are in the directory.

I can select the index via the More... link, but it doesn't show up in the Dropdown menu.

Is there a problem using special German Characters like ÜÄÖ ???

i am running the program as Admin, so there should be no problems in accessing paths or files...

I did a test with some German characters in the index name, and it seemed to work OK, at least in Win10.

        See,
        Select index with German characters

It seemed to work as expected.

What was the exact text you used for the index name. Are you using Win10?
