  • OSFClone - Can I clone a USB drive and save the image on my main drive?

I want to image an internal laptop drive to my main PC drive before repair. Can I use OSFClone to write the image from the laptop drive attached via a usb connectivity kit and save the raw image on my computer's C: drive?

This seems slightly different than the typical backup scenario and I do not have an external drive large enough for the laptop drive's raw image.

I could use a few instructions because honestly I'm afraid of bootable backup software because it could cheerily wipe my C: drive if I make a mistake.

    Thanks for reading!

When you talk about a "usb connectivity kit", what exactly is this?

What you can certainly do is remove the the drive from the laptop and connect it to your desktop PC, then take an image.

How you do the connection depends on the type of interface the drive has.

Backing up to an external USB drive would seem to be an easier solution.
