  • OSFMount License

    OSFMount, especially the command-line version is a really handy tool and blazing fast! I also really appreciate the support of compressed disk-images and virtual disks.

    I have a question concerning the license of OSFMount. It states that it is free software and I can read the following:


    "Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy
    of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to
    deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights
    to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies
    of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so,
    subject to the following conditions:

    The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all
    copies or substantial portions of the Software."


    Does this mean it is allowed to package OSFMount alongside a commercial software which is being sold to customers as long as the license-agreement (textfile) is also distributed and mentioned in the documentation? Please say yes .

    The above text is NOT the license for OSFMount.
    I think that is an extract of the license for a 3rd party component that we initially used.

    The actual full license text is included with the software package and displayed during the install.

    But nevertheless OSFMount V3 is free. That is to say, no cost and you can distribute the complete unmodified binary package as you want.
