  • [OSFClone] Unable to detect HDD which Windows 10 OS is installed on

I can successfully boot OSFClone into laptop with Windows 10 installed, however when it shows the list of drives for which I can set source and destination, only the USB drives appear as sda and sdb (including the USB with OSFClone, and the USB which I intend to be the destination).

I disabled "Turn on fast startup" both in control panel, and in BIOS, but it didn't help.

I also decrypted the entire source HDD but this didn't do anything either.

I also tried Clonezilla which produced an error to say the source disk is either unmounted, does not exist, or the kernel is too old.

So it doesn't seem to be an issue specific to OSFClone, but I hope somebody here may have a solution so I can use OSFClone as intended.

OSFClone is a utility Perl script that is running on top of a Live Linux OS. If you are comfortable with the Linux command line, you can exit the OSFClone to the command line and run the "sudo fdisk -l" command to see if the underlying OS sees the drive.

If the drive is not listed, it may be specialized hardware that the current Linux OS doesn't have the drivers necessary for the drive.

Thank you for the suggestion. The drive containing windows 10 (intended source drive) did not appear upon entering that command, either in OSFClone or Clonezilla.

However, I tried one last time to flick some switches in the BIOS. Enabling Legacy Support mode + Legacy First and disabling OS optimization allowed OSFClone to detect the host disk. It's cloning right now as I type!

Finally! Looks like my mission is complete.
