  • Increasing or Removing Word Limits for Indexing

    Hi All,

I have multi-TB disk I want to run indexing on it but everytime I do, I hit the 200M word limit. Is there anyway to either remove the limit or increase it?

    Thanks,
    Umit

I believe that limit is on the number of unique words. There are only around 200,000 words in the English language. So getting any word count significantly above this is a little strange.
Building a large index is also very RAM intensive. So bumping up the limits might just mean you run out of RAM.

The word limit is indirectly controlled on the limits tab (Step 3).It can't be set directly.

But I am assuming you have already selected the extreme setting?
What would be interesting it to get screen shots for each of the settings windows when setting the indexing process,

I think the best approach is divide and conquer. In other words build several different, but smaller, indexes.

For example if you are indexing unallocated space, the index might contain a huge amount of random junk. Splitting this off into a separate index would make sense.

Having a separate index just for Email, might also make sense. Or just for key folders. Would need to know more about the current settings and the content being indexed to give better advice.
