  • Number BlackListed in ModemTest

A number I am trying to dial is reported to be blacklisted by the software. How does this happen and how do I reset/fix it?
    Thanks.

The ModemTest software does not have a blacklist. If you're seeing this message just after the dial attempt, then the message will be coming from your Modem.

You can verify that this message comes from the modem, if required, by using the Windows Hyperterminal program.

Some modems keep black lists of numbers it seems number blacklisting is a requirement for modems to operate in certain countries which have such a regulation.

Telecommunications regulations vary from country to country across the world, and a number of countries have regulations limiting the number of times you can legally call the same busy number in a specific period of time.

When blacklisting becomes active, attempts to dial out will fail - various modems may respond differently. Some may respond with a blacklisted or delayed message. After the country-defined time has elapsed, dialing will again work.

Some of the above details are from
    http://www.modemsite.com/56k/blacklist.asp

This page also includes some good tricks for avoiding the black list.

The AT modem command to view the black list is AT%B or AT*B on most modems that have this feature.
