DiskCheckup and letting HDD's sleep

Hello everybody,

I'm running DiskCheckup to keep an eye on the hard drives in my HTPC and I love it, especially the e-mail function, makes me feel really safe! So thanks for this awesome tool .

But other than that I also want my HTPC (which is powered on a lot) to be as power efficient as possible. Therefore I have it spin down my HDD's after a while of inactivity (I believe as low as 5 minutes).

But in DiskCheckup I have the option "Autorefresh after 10 mins" and "Record SMART attributes for TEC computation" enabled and I'm wondering whether that will break / end the idle period or not? Because if it does that will take the drive to and from a sleep state a lot and will not be very power efficient either.

Don't feel too save. Drives can fail without warning.

I would be surprised if DiskCheckup woke the machine from being alseep. But checking the disk status when the machine is not asleep might result in the disk spinning up, depending on the drive.
