  • What does "worst" mean in diskcheckup?

Is failure predicted by comparing the drive to some published standard? Or by comparing the drive to it's own past performance?

    thx

Each drive has a threshold programmed into it for each value. This threshold indicates when the drive has gone bad for one reason or another. The threshold is set by the manufacturer of the drive when it is designed. DiskCheckup tries to have a guess based on past declining performance, when the threshold will be crossed.

Of course it is only a rough estimate. Software can't really predict the future.
