  • A few low benchmark scores - Phenom II X4 B50

    CPU AMD Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3741MHz
    M/B MSI 790GX-G65
    RAM 4GB G-Skill 1333
    GPU XFX 1GB 4850
    HDD W/D Caviar Blue 500GB
    PSU OCZ ModXstream 500W

I have been tinkering with my PC and checking the performance with your PassMark benchmark which I have now purchased.
Overall I am very pleased with the results as I built the system last year as a complete novice and on a tight budget.
A few of the scores are however a bit low compared to the rest, so could someone explain what the problem might be.

My system is listed as B50 3741 BL296138
    Overall Score 1514.8

    CPU-Find Prime Numbers 1040
    Graphics 2D Solid Vectors 1.29
    Graphics 2D Transparent Vectors 1.46
Memory Mark 1040 ( just over half the composite average even though the sub-sections are all nearer the c/a scores)
Disk Random Seek + RW 2.91

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What O/S are your running and are you running 32bit or 64bit? Results might be normal for your O/S.

For the 2D tests see this FAQ.
        Q. 2D results in Windows 7 seem poor compared to previous versions of Windows, why is this?

The Disk Random Seek + RW score of 2.9MB/sec seems about right. The Caviar Blue range aren't super fast drives.

The Memory Mark of 1040 also seems about normal for your overclocked CPU.

If anything the Prime number score is slightly above what I would have expected.

Don't really see anything to be alarmed about.
