  • Performance Issues GTX 580

    Hi there,

Last week I bought a new computer with the following components:

    CPU: Intel Core i7 990X, 3.46GHz
Motherboard: Asus R.O.G. Rampage III Extreme
    RAM: Corsair CMT12GX3M3A2000C9, 3x4 GB, DDR3-2000
    SSD: OCZ RevoDrive X2 240GB, PCI-E x4 read: 740 MB/s / write: 720 MB/s
    Graphic Card: 2x Asus GTX-580 1.5GB DDR5, PCI-E 2.0 x16

I have a 850W Power supply from be quiet.

Everything is running nearly okay. But I'm not happy with the performance of the graphic cards. I don't know if I configured something wrong maybe you guys can help me out. The graphic cards running in SLI mode ( I hope so, configured in the driver option). The Score is just 3338.7 and the Benchmarks on this side are around 3800. Sure the measure can be a little different but nearly 500 Points is a bit much I think.

    Nice machine.

SLI doesn't make much difference to the PT benchmark results. nVidia's device drivers don't support it, despite our efforts to get it working.

So you might try taking it out of SLI for the test. There might also be some settings (quality vs speed) in the device driver you can change.

      Hi,

Thanks for the answer I will read the hole post. Maybe i already found something. SSD and grafic cards are all in PCI slots and the pci 4x slot where the SSD is, is in the same IRQ group.

I hope it do not slow it down to 8x 8x 8x PCI. I have to check this.

      Thanks
