    How much capacity?
Do you need to boot from the drive or is it going to be a data disk?
    Does your motherboard support RAID?

If money is no problem check this out,

5TB capacity, 6 GBytes/sec read speed. The performance is simply awesome. I believe the price is north of $15,000 USD.

This, I think, is the best money can buy!

In my opinion the best way to spend $400 would be on one fast SSD of maybe 128GB. e.g. the OCZ-VERTEX3
and spend the rest on a 2TB traditional drive.
