WTF? My benchmarks on i7-920 vs i5-2500K

  • WTF? My benchmarks on i7-920 vs i5-2500K

    So I recently upgraded my i7-920 to an i5-2500K...or so I thought.

    I ran a benchmark and these were the results.

    This is the i7


    Why is the i5 beaten in every category? I though the i5-2500K was supposed to blow the old i7 out of the water??

    I even have it overclocked to 4ghz while the i7 is at stock speed (2.8Ghz)

    Explanation?

    The i7-920 average CPUmark is 5563

    The i5-2500K average CPUmark is 7178

    These are averages made up of results from more than 10,000 machines.

    So your i5's result of 1837 is way way under the average of non overclocked i5's.

    The obvious explanation is that your CPU is overheating and underclocking itself (as a consequence of your overclocking).

      Thermals are good. At idle I get 30 Celsius and max load on prime I get 55 Celsius.

      I even turned off the feature in the bios that under clocks the CPU to save power when now in use. If I check CPU-Z I have a constant 4.1Ghz.

      I dont get whats wrong...do I have a faulty processor?

        I just tried resting everything in CMOS...

        I ran the pasmark software at stock settings as I got a 1600
        So 1600 stock 1800 overclocked. This is BS whats going on it should be in the 7000s!

          UPDATE: I figured it out...

          For some reason pass mark was only detecting one core on the CPU...I uninstalled and reinstalled passmark and it detected all 4. The score now at stock speeds is 6968 lol much better.

          Now to overclock again.

            BurnInTest may generate more heat than Prime, depending on circumstances.
