  • Low results on new laptop

    Hi guys,

I had some trouble with my videocard (GeForce GT 555M) on my new laptop (Asus, Intel Core i7-2630QM, 6GB RAM, Windows 7 x64), I got bluescreens while playing games. So I deleted the Nvidia driver (ran Driver Sweeper as well), and reinstalled the drivers (from Asus, 100% sure I got the good one). Everything seemed fine, but now it seems games are more laggy as usual. So I ran the Performance Test and compared the results on internet; my results were way lower than the results on internet.
I don't know what to do to bring back the original performance of my (brand new) laptop. Can someone help me out?

The average CPUMark result for the i7-2630QM CPU is 6325.
Your result was 6850. About 8% above average.

3D results seem a bit low. Are you sure you are running on the GT 555M and not the in built Intel video chip.

You didn't run the disk test. So I can't comment on that.

About the video; how can I check if I'm running on the 555M?

Thank you very much sir! Followed the instructions, ran the test again and got a score of 1650.7 (average on internet is 1026).

And I'm wondering, if I run the CPU test (Test -> CPU -> All) and check the rating, it's about 2390. If I compare this online, the same processor has an average of 6324. Or am I getting this wrong?

EDIT: Another question; when I'm going to play a game, is the 555M automatically enabled? Or is the Intel video chip the default video chip for every action (including games)?

Maybe you are confusing the overall PassMark Rating with the CPUmark number?
The former is for the entire system. The latter is for just the CPU.

            > is the 555M automatically enabled

If you believe nVidia it is all automatic. But our experience is that is doesn't really work, and a manual setting is required at least some of the time.
