  • Can I take a motherboard from an older computer and use it in a newer computer?

I have two crashed computers. One though that's way newer than the old one doesn't have a working video card in the motherboard. It stopped working. That other old crahed computer though has a working motherboard. Will I be able to use the old motherboard in that newer dell computer?

No easy answer. Different MB's have might have different slots for RAM (DDR2 instead of DDDR3), different CPU sockets, different power supply requirements, different sizes and mounting points, different interfaces (SATA, IDE), etc...

If you are sure it is just the video output that is dead, you might want to try a new video card rather than a new motherboard.

It depends on the motherboard size and dell case size

Your better off buying a new case which will run you about
30 to 50 dollars for a Mid tower ATX.
