The CPU has influence on the 2D graphics score. Not all 2D rendering activities are done exclusively on the video card. It is a combination of the single thread performance of the CPU and GPU. Your CPU, Intel Core i7 860, is an older CPU and doesn't particularly have great overall single threaded performance compared to newer CPUs.
Depends on your budget. Just pick one you can afford and is available near you from this CPU list.
But a new CPU will mean a new motherboard.
And a new motherboard will mean new RAM.
And if you are getting new CPU, RAM and MB, then you want a new M2. SSD as well.
Then you'll find your existing case doesn't support have USB3 ports that your new MB has. So you'll be wanting a new case.
Your existing PSU might be OK, maybe.
The i7-6700 was made redundant last week with the release of the i7-7700. Otherwise it is a fine CPU (but slightly expensive).
Cheaper i5-7500 or i5-7600K might do the job.
I don't know all your requirements (number of USB ports, size of your case, SLI support, RAID support, RAM slots, etc..).
But a cheaper board like this one might also do the job https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MBD...et-LGA1151-4-X
The Z270 is a newer chipset. But the differences are pretty small. (a few extra PCIe lanes and Optane support, which counts for nothing at the moment as there is no Optane hardware).
