i7-3770 vs 7th generation i5? i am new to this

I have an i7-3770, about 5 years old, it works ok...all I use is internet email and word processing
I don't need usb 3.0 or other newer technologies, newer cores..??
when I look at i7-3770 vs the newest i5, i5-7500, the i7 ranks 211 and the i5-7500 ranks 292?
5 years later and my i7-3770 ranks higher? am I missing anything

The i7-3770 has hyperthreading, a higher clock speed, high power usage, has more cache and was a more expensive CPU when released.

So yes, the older i7 is pretty much as good as a new i5 if you ignore power usage.
