  • Intel Core2 Duo L9400 vs Samsung S3

I'm trying to compare performance between a Intel Core2 Duo L9400 system and Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile.

    Intel System:
Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400 (Dual Core 1.86 GHz)
    2GB DDR2 800MHz SDRAM
    32GB SATA Flash Disk
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

    samsung system:
    Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9
    1GB DDR2 RAM
    16GB internal flash
    Mali-400MP

I understand the benchmark scores can't be compared directly, but the CPU operations give a rough comparison. I found the Samsung S3 benchmark results, e.g. CPU results:

    Integer Math(MOps/Sec.) 257.1
    Floating Point Math(MOps/Sec.) 561.0
    Find Prime Numbers(Thousand Primes/Sec.) 115.8
    Random String Sorting(Thousand Strings/Sec.) 1572.2
    Data Encyption(KBytes/Sec.) 6521.3
    Data Compression(KBytes/Sec.) 1328.3

Are there any published results for the L9400 to compare against? Any help with the comparison would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Nick

    L9400 CPUMark result is here,
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+L9400+%40+1.86G Hz

You can download detailed individual results from within the PerformanceTest software.

An example result for the S3 is here,
    http://www.androidbenchmark.net/baseline.php?ids=39824

But you can't directly compare results between Android benchmarks and Windows benchmarks. Some problems in doing a comparison are the differences in the programming language. On Android it is Java, but on Windows it is C++. Also on Windows you have 32bit and 64bit results which can change the results quite a bit.
