  • Second Generation AMD A6 5400K CPU

Does anyone here know how well the CPU mentioned in the subject performs? I tried to see if there was a benchmark, but couldn't find any results.

Here's a link to the one I found for a computer store near me.

    http://microcenter.com/product/400672/A6_5400K_Black_Edition_36GHz_Socket_FM2_Boxed_Proc essor

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm trying to build on a budget.

You can find the benchmark result here,

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...0K+APU&id=1494

It is a relatively cheap CPU, with correspondingly mediocre performance. Would be fine for E-mail, browsing the web, etc.. however.

Okay, then scratch that one. Are there any good CPUs that are less than $100? I'd like a gaming computer build, but I don't want to spend more than $450 (including OS) for the entire computer, if I can help it.

There is a chart of the best value CPUs that are currently on sale here.

Here are some options around the $100 mark,

        AMD A8-5500 for $104
        AMD Athlon II X4 651 for $95
        AMD Phenom II X4 965 for $99
        Intel Pentium G2120 @ 3.10GHz for $94

The G2120 only has 2 cores, but has superior performance with single threaded applications.

Thanks for the tips, I'm going to check my computer store and see which of the AMD CPUs is the cheapest. They usually have much lower prices then regular market value.
