  • P4000 vs. P5000

    Hello,

We're in for new PCs and are looking between P5000 or P4000. Our current P4000 strugle with a particular model so we're inclined to go for a P5000.

However, looking at the scores, P500 has a lower score than P4000. Any specific reason?

    Thank you.

I think what is happening is that the P5000 is being thermally throttled.

There seems to be a desktop and mobile version of both the P4000 and the P5000. But technically they seem to be the same chip and identify the same. Meaning that you can't tell them apart from looking at the GPU name.

But the P5000 uses a lot more power. Way too much power to put in a laptop. But it seems the manufacturers did it anyway. As a result the full power of the P5000 often can't be used as the machines overheat.

David, thanks. I'm surprised these would even fit a laptop!
