Intel i5-8400 CPU Mark increased by 11.8% after installing more RAM

Hi

I added a second 8GB module to my ASUS PRIME Z370-P mother board and the (non-turbo) CPU mark went from 8417 to 9410.
I didn't expect that to happen since the consensus elsewhere seems to be that more than 8GB is useful only in limited circumstance.
Any ideas?

Maybe you switched from single channel mode to dual channel (which is faster)?
