  • Cedartrail D2550 has lower Cache Speed benchmark than Pineview D525?

    Hello Folks,

Recently we are using the latest MENTEST 5.0 software to do L1/L2 cache speed comparsion betweeen D2550 and D525 computers , and found the D2550 has lower L1/L2 chache speed than D525.

How does this possible? I thought D2550 Cedarview is newer than D525 Pineview , and thought posting this question, maybe some experts in this forum can solve this mystery for us.

Anyone know? The following is the data from MEMTEST V5.0

    Component
    Atom D525 1.8GHz Atom D2550 1.8GHz
    L1 cache 56K 11256 MB/sec. 4613 MB/sec.
    L2 cache 512K 12738 MB/sec. 4239 MB/sec.
    Main Memory 2603 MB/sec. 2011 MB/sec.

Don't really know the reason behind this.

I don't think it is a bug in MemTest86 because the same behaviour is observed in our Windows benchmark (which uses different code).

The D525 might really be faster when reading from cache, despite being older. Or it might be motherboard differences or RAM differences (not that the RAM should impact on the cached tests greatly).
