  • USB devices lit but not responding.

    Hello,

So my PC crashed while playing a game so I had to force-shutdown my computer by holding the power button. I turn the PC back on but none of my USB devices work anymore, my keyboard and mouse are powered (LEDs are working) but none of my actions (key pressing like capslock) are registered. The PC itself isn't frozen as the BIOS screen (showing which key to press to enter the BIOS) shows up, loads and then goes away to display Windows session login. There was no hardware change after the shutdown yet the problem happened after turning the PC back on. I tried using USB 2 and 3, using the ports of my motherboard and of the ports of the case, but same results (though my mouse and keyboard are working on my other PC). I plugged an (active) USB key to re-install Windows but it is not recognized by my computer. Does anyone know what could be the cause and how can I fix this ?

    Thanks.

Was there a storm / lighting in the area when the crash happened?
Can you buy a cheap PCIe USB expansion card to test?
