Drastic CPU Mark changes

Hello,
I thank PassMark for maintaining a great site! I frequently use it to do quick checks of the relative performance and specs of CPUs, Video cards etc…

Today, I went to https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php and noticed that “CPU Marks” had dropped drastically for several CPUs since I last checked. Since this number is an average, I am surprised at such a significant change, especially with some of them being older CPUs.

Examples:
I7-4790: Last check=9987, Today =7211
I7-4790S: Last check=9573, Today =8254
I5-4570: Last check=7123, Today=6062
I5-4570S: Last check=6774, Today=6079

Another thing that seems odd is that, now, the lower power/frequency/performance “S” CPUs have higher CPU Marks than the standard CPUs.

Is this due to some sort of new testing algorithm or something? Thanks for any insight provided!!

Yes, there was significant changes yesterday as we switched to a new set of benchmark algorithms from PerformanceTest V10.

What you are seeing is however short term volatility that should disappear over the next few days, at least for the common CPUs, as we collect more data from PerformanceTest V10.

Thank You. Maintaining some ability to compare old results while technology/algorithms are changing must be like dragging a "ball and chain" as you try to move forward!

Would it not be possible to handle the old values separately?

Because in the moment a fair comparison is quite difficult - for example:

i3-9100: 8432/2289
i5-9500: 9560/2547 (before: 11853/2547)

New values should stabilise after a week or so.
