with the NEW cpu scores, the ratings are virtually useless. Used to be able to see relative performance of various CPU's. No longer POSSIBLE. What's going on? Will they ever be useful again?

Test algorithms have been updated for modern hardware.
But this doesn't stop you comparing different CPUs. Should be are more accurate comparison in fact in the medium to long term.
