  • [Noob question] How much improvement can be expected (Q9450 vs. i5/i7)

I always saw benchmarks but could not understand them. All I see are numbers that don't make sense.

    I have this config:

    ************
    Q9450
    DG41TY Intel MB (onboard video)

    Corsair DDR2 PC2-6400 2 GB 400 MHz
    Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4 1 GB

    Samsung 753LJ (2 HDDs)
CaseMall 500W Total Power Plus - ALL-500TTP Power Supply

    Windows 7-32

    ***********
-----------> The new PC I am selecting may be this one:

    **********************************

    Windows 7 or 8 - 64

    Core i5 4460
    ASUS LGA 1150 Z97M-PLUS (MB)
    Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM HyperX FURY Black Series HX316C10FB/8

SSD Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB (used for the OS and a few things)
Samsung 753LJ (2 HDDs - used for the rest)

Seasonic ATX 520W S12II-520 Bronze Power Supply

Perhaps the GTX 650 will be used, but right now no video card. So consider this new config without the GTX.
    ************

And for example, to render in Vegas PRO 11.0 28 GB from my camcorder in the best quality (JVC GZ-EX210, UXP, 2h46m) it took 20 hours in this computer. Saving the MTS in 1080p. Only a few additions to the original material.

I need to know how many hours will it take using the i5 4460 or i7 4770. At least a percentage if I choose one or the other.

Can you guys help me find out? If I can't have that info then I won't replace this old computer.

The encoded file, reduced from 28 to 8 GB:

We have never done any Vegas PRO benchmarks. You might be better off after this question in a Vegas forum.

My rough guess would be that it would be twice as fast.
