GeForce GTX 980 low score

Hi,

I recently upgraded my video card from a GeForce GTX570 to a new GeForce GTX980 and for some reason I'm getting way lower scores in all categories except DirectCompute than the composite average for my card. For instance, the composite average shows 221.1 Frames per Second for the DirectX 11 test, I'm only getting 59.7 frames per second with the same card!

I'm new at performance tweaking so seeking advice. The card is a stock EVGA 04G-2983-KR GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ACX 2.0 PCI Express 3.0. I've reset the defaults in the NVIDIA control panel app so that everything is set to 'let application choose' based on other advice. I'm using the latest version of the Performance Tester.

I'm only getting 59.7

Check the settings in your video card device driver.
You might have the frame rate locked to the monitors refresh rate (which is almost always 60Hz nowadays).

As the DirectCompute test's results don't depend on the frame rate it wouldn't affect that test.
