  • Where can I improve my passmark benchmark score?

    Version 8.0.1046
    414913
Windows 7 Professional Edition Service Pack 1 build 7601 (64-bit)
    22nd of May, 2015
CPU Measured Speed 3.20 GHz [Turbo: 3.36 GHz]
    Motherboard K9A2 Platinum (MS-7376)
    Memory 8GB Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5
Video Card Tested GeForce GTX 660 Ti
Hard Drive Tested WDC WD5000AAKS (500 GB)

I know that my HDD is a old mechnical drive and I'd like to look at moving to a TB SSD soon do you guys feel like the rest of my scores are ok for a 2008 mobo running ddr2 800 ram in single channel?

As you pointed out, the disk result is really awful.
CPU & video card results are about what would be expected for the hardware.

Thats a 2008 WD blue caviar 500GB HDD for ya its read write speeds are like 78 mb/s using crystaldiskmark 4 so yea I'm sure my overall score would skyrocket going over to a SSD but my MOBO only supports Sata II so I'd have a 300 mb/s bottleneck

I just reran performancetest after overclocking the 1090t to 3.6 ghz and added a 80 mhz oc to the core clock and 150 mhz to the memory clock of the 660 ti

        Passmark Score: 1782

        CPU Mark: 6047

        2d Graphics Mark: 506

        3d Graphics Mark: 4553

        Memory Mark: 1018

        Disk Mark: 535

Much better result and big gains with the overclock still the HDD obviously is my pcs bottleneck and with a decent ssd I expect scores at around 2.4k - 2.5k

Just so you have something to compare with:

          3,093 AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad Core
          5,946 3.69 GHz [Turbo: 3.94 GHz]
          585
          5,115 Radeon HD 7950 / R9 280 3GB
          1,294 16GB , AMD R934G2401U1S 2400MHz
          4,377 Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250G (250 GB)
I had only 8GBs of RAM before, and got around 150 points less for Passmark Rating.
I'd say that your Disk is bottlenecking your system hard. If you compare the points 535 vs 4,377. Based on the rest, you should get around the same Passmark as me, since your CPU should be far better then mine.

When I upgraded to 16GB of RAM, even my 3D mark improved, since then the RAM will take some stress(very little) from the CPU and GPU.

You could get a mainboard with newer RAM sockets and but the same CPU socket, then upgrading to SSD with sata III shouldn't be a problem.

If I knew more about the CPU I'd know what would be possible.

The rest looks fine for me. The CPU can still carry you for a while, and the GPU is fine as well. The RAM is sufficient as well.

If you want to improve your RIG, get an SSD first and see the difference. Not sure but I think that the Sata III SSD does work on SataII mainboard, of course it wont be as fast as SataIII.
Not sure about that, you should look into it to find out.

You can always upgrade to a newer mainboard and ram.

EDIT: I know its not a solution, and you'd need more ram for it to make a use for it, but I reached the same speed as a Sata3 ssd with using ramdisk.
