  • Low 3d benchmark 980 ti

    Hello

    I ran passmark tests with gtx 980ti installed on system with latest drivers.
    First when detecting video card performance test shows gpu name correctly but instead of it having 6gb of ram it says to have 4gb. when running 3d test it scores lower than gtx 980. Score has 1000 points less overall.

    What might be the problem? Motherboard is hp z800. Asking vendor he claimed that newer gpu is compatible although not designed specifically for gtx cards. Reading forums claimed that pcie 2 slot should not influence performance in noticable way.

    Thank you in advance

    Could you please check you are using the latest build of PerformanceTest (V8.0 build 1051, http://www.passmark.com/download/pt_download.htm) as this should correct the 4GB display issue.

    Common causes of low 3D performance;

    Drivers - are you using the latest Nvidia drivers? There do seem to be some lower scores for the 980 Ti and the majority of these seem to be using a slightly older driver that the higher scores

    Power - given how this card is setup with the way it can boost the clock speed it might not be getting enough power to do so.

    System power settings - check the power options in windows are set to high performance and not one of the power saving plans.

    Heat - Check what the temperatures are like under load, the card might be getting too hot.
