  • Does a bad test result means my motherboard is fried?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a ASUS X515JA that stopped working. I always have a blue screen in window telling me that my PC needs to be repaired and needs a recovery tool. There is no memory error generated by POST at startup. However, when I run MemTest86, it Failed memory test (see print screen). Does it means that my motherboard is fried? I have 4GB on board and 4 GB on a slot. I removed my 4GB that was in slot with the same error. Thank you for your feedbacks.

Looks like bad ram. The range is small enough that maybe you can blacklist the memory location for the time being, but it is recommended that it should be fixed*. See the following pages for information:

    MemTest86 - Troubleshooting Memory Errors
    MemTest86 - Blacklisting RAM Pages

*Note that masking faulty memory addresses does not fix defective RAM but provides a temporary workaround for allowing the system to boot, especially in the case of soldered memory that cannot be easily replaced. Faulty memory should always be replaced, if possible.
