I have an old Dell server that I use as a desktop. It works well and has plenty of upgrade possibilities.
So I bought a new cpu and ram and downloaded a demo of passmark to get an idea of how much of an improvement could be achieved.
I ran the test with the original 3gb 533mhz ram and scored 941. Then installed the upgraded ram... 8gb 667mhz and I now score 135.
The computer seems to run just as well as before the upgrade so I'm wondering if anyone can explain if there is a genuine loss of performance or if there is some other reason for the difference in scores.
The cpu... despite dell telling me I can install two x5355 xeons it turns out I cant so I have upgraded the cpu yet.
Thank you!
